My First

... ever... lightning photograph... I suppose it was worth waiting 20 years for...

Before I display it though... I do think I'll get back to writing some more one of these days... My creative juices are flowing and all that... It's just that my pen dried up and I am waiting for payday to come to refill it.

And without further ado....

A Day at Knoebels

3/8/2007 Update: Over the past few months this has become the most visited post on my blog site... Due to a couple of images - primarily the cotton candy images. If you are interested in ordering a photo print of this or any other photos I have posted feel free to email me at arkansawyer@gmail.com with a subject of "Cotton Candy".

Original Post:

Okay... I am going to do something different. In Pennsylvania, we have an amusement park or 15... Hershey Park is nice, but expensive.. But there are other alternatives which are just as nice (in my humble opinion) yet do not break the bank.

Over time, I have taken quite a few photos at Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park, in the countryside near Elysburg, PA. Here's their link: http://www.knoebels.com/

I am going to do a "series"... That is, I have posted a number of Knoebel's Photos on another site... And I am going to display the photos here, just to give a day at the park, so to speak.

I am going to start out with Cotton Candy... This is one of the most interesting shots.. to me....

My daughter and I watched her making the cotton candy and was amazed when she pulled it out and it looked like this:

While we're on the subject of foods... Hot Sausage, anyone?

And of course, when we go to an amusement park, we want to ride rides, right?

Kid Coaster:

The day was a little cool, so the park wasn't too crowded... My daughter and I decided to go up the sky lift....

And this is what we saw, looking down....

A visit to Knoebel's wouldn't be complete without a visit to the chainsaw artist, back in the back of the park.

From the spambox...

My spam box overfloweth... the rate at which I recieve spam has actually dropped as the email service gradually cracks down but once in a while my own spam filter sends messages into the junk mail folder... This is one that got past corporate but was caught by my spam filter....

Subj: Hi!

at least, not all of them. An hour later he saw Annie stalk grimly past his window, drawing on a pair of work-gloves as she headed for the barn.
/spam link removed/

""So do I, Annie,he said. When he had done all he could, he reversed again and looked at the door, trying to see it through Annies exquisitely suspicious eyes. "He pressed his mouth against hers and plunged his hands deeply into the glory of her chestnut hair, and for a few moments there was nothing at all, except for the two of them. He looked at her steadily, observing with faint interest that Annie Wilkes was a bit pale.

So the doctor never came.

("Virginia") Sandpipers Polaroids would leap immediately into his mind, obscuring imagination with their cheery but one-dimensional concreteness. He didnt know what else she might have there at the foot of the bed, but one of them was a box of Diamond Blue Tip matches.

Millersburg Fireworks

Our local community fireworks show was postponed the other week due to all the floodwaters... But Saturday night, it was on, and a very nice show, at that.

This morning's drive...

Today when I was driving up and over Peter's Mountain here in Dauphin County, I looked over and saw this below:

Rockville Bridge

A few days ago, when the Susquehanna River flood waters were rather high, I took this photograph of Rockville Bridge, which is the longest stone arch railroad bridge in the world at 3,830 ft long.

Three Heroes

Independance Day is tomorrow. Nothing seems more fitting than to show my Grandpa along with two of his brothers somewhere between basic training and World War II.

Happy 4th, everyone!
